Is YayaToure on the verge of a new Manchester City contract?

YayaToure has a contract with Manchester City which extends until the end of the current season and with only a few months left before expiring, questions are emerging surrounding the future of the veteran player.

Pep Guardiola’s relationship with YayaToure started off in a difficult way as the Spanish manager opted to leave Toure on the sidelines during 3 opening months of the 2016-17 English Premier League season.

The current 2016-17 English Premier League season, initiated on August 13 of 2016 but it wasn’t until November 19 when YayaToure made his 1st appearance against Crystal Palace in a match that resulted in a 2-1 triumph for Manchester City with both of those goals arriving from YayaToure himself.

From there on out, the Ivorian player has turned into a consistent starter and rumors have been emerging claiming that he is about to sign a 1 year contract extension with the Premier League club.

Even at the age of 33, YayaToure is one of those few players who can perform at the highest level and make a huge contribution despite being at such an elevated age.

This is the debut season of Pep Guardiola as the head coach of Manchester City and it has not been a memorable one as they will not be lifting any titles in this season after being eliminated from the FA Cup due to a 1-2 defeat in the semifinals and the Premier League is out of Manchester City’s reach as well as there are only 3 matches remaining and Chelsea is just too far away.

Nonetheless, even in such an underwhelming season for Manchester City, YayaToure has actually managed to stand out from the rest of his teammates and certainly deserved a contract extension.
